Resilience:
Capturing humans
capturing life
As a photographer, I'm always drawn to the quiet power of a portrait—the way it can hold someone's story, without a single word.
Resilience, captures lives in motion, in transition, in hope. This project tells the stories of five individuals from different parts of the world who were forced to leave their homes—not by choice, but by necessity. I was curious, how do they experience life in the Netherlands? What do they value here and what could we learn as society and individuals from their culture? And also, how do they carry their experiences? And what are their dreams, their ambitions, their next steps?
Resilience is about strength. About optimism. About humans who have faced immense challenges and move forward—with energy, pride, and purpose.
I feel very grateful to meet Rezan, Afra, Muammer, Amer, Aziz, and to listen to their stories. I hope that reading their stories not only moves you the way it moved me, but also inspires you to connect—with someone new, someone different. Because the more we truly see one another, the more human our society becomes.
